Dena joined the firm in 2000 as a paralegal to Mr. Rosenfelt. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Santa Fe and has a business background in healthcare administration and insurance, including managed care and Medicare.

 

At Rosenfelt & Buffington, Dena combines her fascination with the legal, administrative, and medical fields. She works mainly on medical negligence cases and also serves as the firm administrator. She enjoys the challenges that each unique case brings, and looks forward to working through complex medical issues.

Dena Charlton

Christine has enjoyed working as one of Managing Director, Daniel Rosenfelt’s paralegals since 1994. She enjoys getting to know his clients and participating in settling or litigating their claims.

Christine earned a degree in Legal Assistant Studies from TVI in Albuquerque in 1993 and had five years of experience in the legal field in El Paso and Albuquerque before joining Rosenfelt & Buffington.

 

She grew up in the suburbs of New York City and has a bachelor’s degree from Smith College in Massachusetts. After several years in Europe, she worked in advertising and market research in New York and Chicago while raising three wonderful sons.

A cancer survivor, Christine assists with the firm’s participation in the annual Relay for Life in Gallup and encourages staff members to join her in other events such as the annual Making Strides against Breast Cancer and the Susan G. Komen Run.

Christine Mumbower

Kristina joined the firm in early 2006 and provides paralegal support to Forrest G. Buffington.  She has experience in personal injury, as well as criminal defense, family, civil rights, estate administration, and administrative law at the federal, state, and local levels.

 

Kristina's desire to pursue a legal career began with her employment as a paralegal for the Office of the District Attorney in McKinley County in 1999.  

 

Outside her career in the legal field, Kristina has also worked in the healthcare industry specializing in managed care, negotiations and auditing of provider contracts.

Mel Sandavol

Shirley, a native of Navajo Land, resides in Shiprock, New Mexico. Shirley attended schools in Phoenix, Arizona and Shiprock. She obtained administrative assistant and paralegal skills by attending classes at San Juan College in Farmington, NM. She is bilingual in the Navajo and English languages and is a certified interpreter.

 

Prior to joining the firm in 2001, Shirley worked with several other law offices including the Ute Tribe justice department and the Navajo Nation’s public safety division and judicial branches. 

 

She and her husband Nelson married in 1972 and have two daughters. Two grandchildren have since joined the family. Shirley enjoys family time and shopping.

Shirley Bia

Arlene staffs our Chinle office on a full-time basis.  Arlene is a lifelong Chinle resident and fluent in the Navajo language. 

 

Arlene has worked for the Navajo Nation judicial system, DNA, and the Apache County Board of Supervisors in Apache County District II.  She has an extensive knowledge of the people, conditions, and courts of the Chinle area.

 

Arlene, the mother of three, enjoys spending time with her family, and is an active member of the Chinle community.
